The Jiu Jitsu E-mail Newsletter
What up Flowrollers, it’s a great day to convince the white belts that acai is the secret to your powerful triangle chokes.
Last week’s poll was a surprising one! More than half of you said you have felt like quitting Jiu Jitsu due to injuries:
Personally, injuries happen but they’ve never derailed by interest in Jiu Jitsu. At the end of the day, you can get injured doing anything and if my body is going to take a beating… it might as well be on the mats.
I totally relate to this Flowroller’s take on training partners though. It’s so important to train with people you can trust:
Alright let’s get to it, slap-and-bump 👊🏻
THE MAIN EVENT 🚨
Have you ever thought about switching to another gym? In this recent Reddit post, there was a ton of discussion about when - or when not - to change gyms.
Switching gyms is a touchy subject, especially with the longstanding traditions of loyalty and “creonte” in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
The tides are shifting on this topic though. I feel like I see more and more big name athletes switching training environments. Whether you’re a competitor or a hobbyist, you have to do what’s right for you.
That doesn’t mean switching gyms every 6 months, or not paying respect to the people who taught you this beautiful sport. But it does mean that you don’t have to put up with a negative or abusive environment.
